Abseiling

What is abseiling?

Abseiling involves descending down a crag using climbing equipment, which we provide here at the centre.

It’s lots of fun and suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels. We’ll provide everything you’ll need to have a safe and fun time.

Benefits of abseiling

While abseiling is not that difficult physically, it can be a real mental and emotional challenge.

It’s a great way to get out of your comfort zone, helping you to build:

  • confidence
  • skill levels
  • hand-eye coordination

Abseiling safety

Safety is the key concern whilst abseiling. It is vitally important that group members listen to and understand the instructions given to them by the instructor.

We have multiple locations, with varying heights to cater for different levels of confidence. Our instructors will guide you through the process, providing the equipment and knowledge required for you to make it safely to the bottom.

The centre has a challenge by choice policy. Nobody is forced to push themselves too far. However, with the support of the instructor and the rest of the group, participants can step out of their comfort zone and experience the massive adrenaline rush and sense of achievement that is found at the bottom of the abseil.

All our instructors are externally qualified by the Mountain Training Association to run abseils.

The abseils we use have been inspected before use, and were chosen for their:

  • easy access
  • location
  • safe anchors
  • safe group management areas
