Duke of Edinburgh Residential

The centre runs Duke of Edinburgh (DoFE) Residentials, usually one in the summer and one in the winter. These are open to anybody; however, participants from North Ayrshire are given priority. DoFE Residentials include:

  • five days and four nights away from home staying at the centre
  • opportunities to meet and work with new people from different backgrounds
  • a wide range of outdoor activities, which may include hillwalking, kayaking, canoeing, climbing, abseiling, gorge walking, team-building challenges, and environmental projects
  • development of leadership, teamwork, communication, confidence, and independence skills
  • full board accommodation and support from experienced outdoor education staff
  • a fun, challenging, and rewarding experience that meets the residential section requirements of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award

Residential courses are designed to help participants step outside their comfort zone, build lasting friendships, and create memorable experiences while enjoying Arran's unique outdoor environment.

This course is due to run:

  • 20 to 24 November 2026
  • 2 to 6 August 2027
