Gorge walking

Gorge walking is about:

  • enjoying the elements
  • taking in the beautiful and often breathtaking views
  • immersing yourself in the natural refreshing waters of our island

It’s also about getting thoroughly soaked, whilst having bags of fun!

What’s involved?

You will progress from wading through the water to scrambling up waterfalls, sliding down on the natural flumes and jumping off cliff faces into the deep pools below.

Each session takes about three and half hours – from leaving the centre in Lamlash, to returning to a warm shower and hot drink.

Our experienced instructors at Arran Outdoor Education Centre will guide your group throughout your gorge walk. We keep the numbers in the group down to a maximum of 8 per instructor.

We will not push you beyond your limits, and there’s no obligation for you to complete all the elements of the gorge walk. Our gorge walk motto is to “complete what you feel comfortable with”.

Can I take part?

You can take part if you:

  • are aged 8 and over
  • have a reasonable level of fitness

Anyone under 11 must be accompanied by an adult.

If you’re unable or unwilling to take part, you can watch and take photos from the path running alongside the gorge.

What do I need?

We will ensure you have the correct equipment in order to stay safe and warm.
